A Hut skier staying at Margy's Hut was caught in an avalanche and suffered a broken leg Sunday afternoon. The avalanche happened on the north side of Mount Yeckel and swept the victim into a grove of trees. Luckily cell phone service was available to call the sheriff's department.
Members of Mountain Rescue Aspen worked Sunday night to evacuate the victim.

This report coming just a few days after an avalanche trapped two skiers, and killing one of them. The skiers were part of a group using the Ridgeway Hut in the San Juan Hut System. This avalanche was human triggered, caused by members of the group who traversed higher than the two members who were caught in the avalanche.
