Hidden Valley in Rocky Mountain National Park was a ski area until 1991. Now it is a very accessible place to train for a hut trip, that has lots of areas safe from avalanche danger, and is well used by back country skiers. It has about 2000 vertical feet of altitude, and plenty of easy grade runs, with some more advanced runs located above trail ridge road.
